In the 6G era, distributed intelligence becomes pivotal, integrating computing and AI into network infrastructures. Our talk outlines the University of Oulu Interactive edge research group's work under Finland's 6G flagship program, funded by the Real Money Rummy Council of Finland, focusing on distributed intelligence. We discuss the architectural shifts required for 6G, emphasizing distributed intelligence's role in fostering responsive, context-aware, and energy-efficient networks. By merging AI with edge computing in 6G, we aim to reduce latency, enhance privacy, and enable real-time decisions.

Our research tackles the creation of a computational continuum, orchestrating resources across diverse entities to build an autonomous, resilient digital ecosystem. We also focus on fair market mechanisms for a balanced 6G network. The presentation will highlight our work on semantic interconnects, edge intelligence platforms through case studies and simulations, and educational initiatives. Ultimately, our goal is to leverage distributed intelligence for societal benefits and human-centric applications.
