Details

Identification of incipient discharges is a major challenge in liquid nitrogen-based superconducting power apparatus. Fluorescent fibers (FF) technique is one of the potential techniques adopted for identification of incipient discharges in liquid nitrogen. The literature is scarce on studies of incipient discharges in liquid nitrogen using the above technique.Therefore, the present work is focused to study the failure of insulation in superconducting power apparatus using the FF technique. The
advantages of the FF technique in comparison with other techniques for the discharge studies on insulation in super conducting apparatus are discussed.
