Abstract:
KEYWORDS: High-purity on-demand hydrogen generation; regulated supply; continuous flow reactor design; gravitational flow of precursors; tap water hydride hydrolysis.

The energy crisis is growing and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to meet the demand, resulting in electricity power cuts and increasing prices. Electricity is traded in European markets on per half an hourly basis. Coal, followed by oil and biomass constitutes around 82% of Indian energy suppliers. The dependence on traditional fuels comes at a severe environmental cost and their availability is physically limited to the reservoirs. The average price per unit of Indian electric supply has increased from Rs. 3.4 to around Rs. 6.15 from 2009 to 2020, almost an 81% increase (the actual value differs from place to place).

The increased price and governmental push are forcing industries and researchers to develop alternative methods to meet energy requirements. For years, hydrogen has been explored as a fuel, but deploying a practical hydrogen technology is limited by its pricing and storage problems (due to its explosive nature, liberating 249 kJ/mole of energy at 298 K to give
