Benoit Mandelbrot introduced a family of random Cantor sets, which are called fractal percolation or Mandelbrot percolation Cantor sets. We consider some basic properties of these random Cantor sets and introduce some generalizations. We consider the orthogonal projections of these random sets to various lines and investigate these projections from the point of positivity of the Lebesgue measure and the existence of interior points.
