Abstract:
Natural products synthesis will always remain one of the most important topic in organic chemistry due to its application in pharmaceuticals and other emerging fields. This drives researchers from around the globe to develop new strategies to build complex molecules in concise and step economic way. Reducing the number of steps, while maintaining the overall reaction yield has efficiently improved the synthesis of such highly important natural products in the last few decades. In this context, C–H bond functionalization has emerged as powerful tool in total synthesis due to its high efficiency and regioselectivity. Recently, enantioselective C- H bond functionalizations employing chiral cyclopentadienyl metal complexes have gained significant attention, but there applications in the synthesis of complex natural products are rather rare. In this seminar, synthesis of various natural products involving C-H bond functionalization and the research proposal will be discussed.
