There has been a rise in Workplace Spirituality (WPS) as it has received momentum among researchers and practitioners all over the world. To define, workplace spirituality is “recognizing the inner life of employees which gets nourished by meaningful work that takes place in the context of community”. India, which is one of the top contributors in the Workplace Spirituality (WPS) area, has a history of practicing and glorifying the benefits of spirituality. Since spirituality is a cultural-level phenomenon, in order to have deeper insights of WPS, there is a need to focus more on country-level studies. We have performed Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to consolidate the studies published in India using Theory-Context-Characteristics Methods (TCCM) framework followed by topic modeling through Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) to arrive at the major research trends and future scope. On the basis of research gaps identified in the SLR, we realized that researchers have struggled to conceptualize WPS considering the depth and subjectivity involved in this construct. Henceforth, the study aims to conceptualize WPS from the viewpoints of multiple stakeholders in organizations and to understand the intricacies involved with facilitating spirituality at the workplace. The literature review hints to study less explored variables work-life balance (WLB) which serves as an important role in leading a more fulfilling life but achieving it has become very challenging over the years. Our research will identify if WPS can assist in development of personal and psychological resources necessary to attain WLB through Job Demands- Resources theory and impact on the intention to stay of employees as a reciprocation of favorable work climate created using social exchange theory. Our study also aims to study the mechanism under which these relationships exist. When employees feel that their personal and professional values align to contribute to a bigger purpose, they regulate their behavior to achieve the goals set by the organization. Therefore, self-regulation will be studied as a mediator with spiritual leadership as a moderator to analyze the role of contextual factors. Our study caters to managerial implications by suggesting unique ways to facilitate WPS which can help managers to incorporate them in HR policies considering the benefits it delivers.
