Natural ester oil has been extensively employed in the power transformer applications due to its advantageous over the existing petroleum-based resources. Multi-stress ageing is one of the major causes for early failure of transformer insulation. Ester oil was subjected to various physico-chemical diagnostic studies to understand the break down characteristics as well as real time condition monitoring technique is proposed for transformer insultation, during operation , which are explained in this work.
