The diurnal and seasonal variations in ambient temperature play a significant role in the diffusion limited heterogeneous degradation of propellant grains during their long storage period. This study has developed an appropriate accelerated thermal ageing methodology to study the thermo-chemical degradation in composite solid propellants, including the variations in the ambient temperature. A new thermal diffusivity measurement technique suitable for composite solid propellants is also proposed.
