Details

A recent rise in popularity of multi-rotor configurations for UAV and urban-mobility applications has ushered in a need for rapid analysis of such systems. The free-wake method, also known as the vortex lattice method is a popular mid-fidelity tool for simulating unsteady aerodynamics of fixed and rotary-wing aircraft. The development of a vortex lattice-based framework for analysis of multi-rotor/wing configurations will be discussed. The many validation cases that were tested on the implementation will be outlined, along with a few applications to emerging technologies.
