Boundary conditions for automobiles are in a transient phase considering multi fuels and multi energy forms. Requirements of customers remain the same. Fuel efficiency, Reliability, Durability, Efficiency, Comfort and low cost are the order of the commercial vehicle industry. With the power source undergoing various changes, the drivetrain needs to be tweaked to match the final customer demands. India is very unique and we operate in a low power to weight ratio due to the logistics economics. Hence the toll on the drivetrain is pretty high. Challenge lies in how we design the powertrain modular to meet the current and future requirements. Discussion will be happening in the same lines. We use a lot of technical tools to design the powertrain but we have lots of improvements to be done in drivetrain optimization. There are a lot of areas where Industry and academics jointly work to overcome the constraints.
