Uncertainty analysis of the building embodied energy is relatively new among the Indian case studies of building LCA. Majority of the studies on embodied energy of buildings present results as a single-point estimate without considering the variability in input parameters and the uncertainty it poses on the results. Uncertainty analysis is performed to increase the reliability of the results. The present research examines uncertainty caused due to variability in the embodied energy intensity of materials and material wastage factors on the whole building embodied energy for a single-story residential building. More than 80% of the housing demand in India is that of economically weaker section (EWS) and low-income group (LIG) type housing. Hence, a single unit naturally ventilated EWS house is considered as a case study. Semi-qualitative method based on data quality indictor is used for modelling the variability in input parameters. Monte Carlo Simulation is used to propagate uncertainty. The results show that the reliability of the results mostly depend on the specification of bricks, cement, and rebar.
